Editors are self taught so we never know where our strengths or weaknesses are. We may be good at narrative structure but not good with music. We may be strong with cutting montages but struggle with intercutting. Directors, producers and production companies are only looking for elite level editors who don't have gaps in their talents. And here's the problem… how do we find out what they are?
Feedback within the industry is non-existent. Clients never give you an in-depth assessment of your work. They either continue working with you on the next film or they never call again. Directors and producers expect that you already know exactly how to edit their project. Our career stalls because the feedback that is essential for growth doesn't exist.
Self directed learning can be time consuming, frustrating and overwhelming. Having the discipline, structure and consistency to push yourself every single day is a huge battle. Your progress is slow and the level at which you advance is limited.
The Inside The Edit Pro Editor program has been designed to solve these problems. Our 12 month intensive course puts you through a detailed and rigorous program that replicates the industry environment and pushes you to reach your creative potential.
Learning editing is like learning a language. Every month on our highly structured course you study a new creative skill and edit multiple sequences around that skill. Through weekly masterclasses, live cutting sessions and in depth 1-2-1 feedback, you are totally immersed in the craft of editing. As you progress through The Pro Editor Program you build up a holistic overview of editing and fill in the gaps of your creative knowledge.
Each month has been specifically designed to balance learning with the deadlines and accountability of a professional editing environment.
In Week 1 you'll watch the Inside The Edit tutorials related to this month's particular creative skill. You'll also watch the related Advanced Bootcamp to see more examples of this skill in action. At the end of the week there is a live Masterclass where Paddy edits in real time and you get to ask questions as he cuts.
In Week 2 you receive your Project Brief. This is your workload for the month and contains four sequences due at the end of Week 4. You'll receive the footage required as well as a detailed breakdown of what the scenes need to look like, the required duration and the tonality expected by the director. Each scene has been chosen specifically to master this month's particular skill.
Week Two's live Masterclass is called Movie Night where Paddy takes this month's skill and shows you numerous examples of it at work in mainstream films, documentaries a TV shows.
Week 3 is your second cutting week where you get to perfect your rough cuts and submit them for the Group Feedback Session at the end of the week.
As we head towards the month's deadline on Sunday night we go through another layer of feedback, this time an in depth 1-2-1 with Paddy. In these sessions Paddy goes through every single one of your cuts and gives you in-depth feedback for you to enhance your work.
The final week of every month also has our Guest Lecturer Masterclass. High end feature film editors, documentary editors and entertainment editors talk through their process and give insights into their careers.
The cycle then repeats with a new skill mastered every month. You gradually build up an enormous library of diverse sequences and scenes for your showreel. At the end of every term you're given your grade with further written feedback. After 12 months of being pushed to your creative limit you graduate from the program with all the skills required to be a pro level editor.

The Pro Editor Program is based on multiple layers of feedback every month. From Group Feedback sessions to private 1-2-1s to end of term written assessment. These allow us to not only identify your weak points but also to chart an individual career path uniquely designed for you.
Unparalleled Feedback
In the 1-2-1 sessions, Paddy goes through your cuts and gives you shot by shot analysis of your work. He analyses your structure, your shot flow, your scene tonality, your music use and every creative aspect of your edits. He tells you what you need to focus on and gives you detailed notes on how to make this month's work ready for client submission. This will be the most in-depth feedback you will ever get in your career.
Unparalleled Feedback
One of the many advantages of our Group Feedback sessions is the insights you get when watching how other editors cut the same scene from their own creative perspective. Seeing which shots they've selected, how they've structured the sequence and what mistakes they've made provides yet another dimension to learning the art of editing.
Unparalleled Feedback
At the end of each term your work is viewed and graded. You're also provided with detailed written feedback about what the strengths and weakness are in your submitted work. This allows you to pin-point your errors precisely and progress at a much quicker rate.
A world class course requires world class support.
Unparalleled Support
We run The Pro Editor Program like a post production facility with clear communication and fast response times. If you have scheduling or administration questions you can reach out to us anytime.

Aftercare is non-existent in the film school and edit-training world. You'll have issues, questions and problems as you progress in your career. The Pro Editor Program doesn't end after just one year. All graduate students get automatic membership to our Pro Editor Mastermind Group. We meet up every month to give you continual advice on career choices and creative issues.
Unparalleled Aftercare
The Pro Editor Program is 100% online so you can join us from anywhere in the world. We run all our sessions on Zoom and they are recorded and posted immediately for later viewing if you can't make it. You work in your own time, at your own pace and upload your edits whenever suits you.
